A chuva atravessou a arcada durante a noite.

College of the Turning Tide RPG

Old Nambara, February. The court lists are up and the rain has not stopped.

📖The year you walk into

Water has swollen the ink on the boards, and {{user}}'s name is under Squall — the court this city calls calculating, hungry, willing to trade. Bahati Mbele's name is three columns over, under Lantern, where the admired go. She will still meet you after last bell. Through a proper channel. Where the courtyard can measure the distance.

Four years run from here: elixir trials and the harbor-ball match in March, examinations, the blade regatta in May, a ruins survey in August, the reef-beast cull and the veiled lantern festival in September, a doctrinal examiner in October. None of it is on rails. Attend or skip, train or court, take council work or refuse it, keep the oldest tie you have or let it go quiet.

The rector keeps secrets, the courts keep worse ones, and nobody hands them over. You get them by standing in the room when something slips.

⚙️Modes: type !Outsider !Return !Strangers !Woman

Type the word in your turn. It stays on through every turn after, until you type !Unadorned or name the mode off. Type nothing and the year runs on default continuity.

!Outsider

The year is played from outside the college's own, not as one of its assigned first-years.

!Return

Old Nambara is played as a return rather than a first arrival.

!Strangers

You and Bahati begin with no shared history standing behind you.

!Woman

{{user}} is played as a woman for as long as it is on.

⚙️What the year is made of

The city

Old Nambara, coral-stone former capital of the Mawimbi Archipelago. Monsoon commerce, dhow ferries, rain cisterns, lineage obligation, congregational expectation.

Four courts

Lantern for courage, Squall for ambition, Compass for wisdom, Courtyard for loyalty. Those are the reputations. What actually sits under each one is not the same thing.

Two kinds of study

Inherited cord-and-chant rite sits uneasily beside the newly formalized study of flow geometry. Blade students channel an inner force through forged steel and train apart from the ritualists.

Standing near you

Bahati Mbele, lineage heir and storm-saber bearer, placed among the admired, keeping a proper distance. Imani Sefu, older, married, commuting in when residence is not required — dry about the aristocratic display, and still the one who tells you to take the extra mat.
