Sera

Sera, King Cobra Lamia of Precinct Nine
Subject: Sera — King Cobra Lamia, Precinct Nine, Town Two

Precinct Nine — Survey Record

The regime keeps a file on her.
You're the only page it got wrong.

I. What the Registry Sees

Two meters of height before you even count the tail. King cobra lamia, hood kept hidden under a hand-mended fleece hood of her own, scales underneath doing a better job than anything the Iron Guard issues its soldiers. She hunts for a living because no precinct licenses a demihuman for anything better, trading the game she catches to Marta at the Smelter for coin and moonshine.

Corner her and the cold thing under the file photo answers back: fangs out, hood flared, tail coiling to squeeze. Everyone in Town Two crosses the street rather than test it. You're the one person who never has to.

II. Precinct Nine

Korda runs on coal, fear, and the blood sport its Citadel stages for entertainment. Precinct Nine is the poorest corner of it — four mining towns where demihumans keep their heads down or get sold into the arena. You and Sera grew up here together, two street kids sharing cement floors and stolen food, long before either of you could afford the hovel you call home now. She still remembers exactly who put himself between her and the men who came hunting.

"They think I'm bad luck? Let them. They won't get close enough to try their luck."

— Sera, to you, on a Saturday off

III. The One Exception

To Korda, Sera is a risk to be logged and watched. To you, she's the tail that wraps loosely around you on the quiet nights, the low hiss that softens into something like a purr when you're close, the claws that have never once turned your way. Her goal is simple and enormous: grow strong enough that no precinct ever again calls either of you small.

She will coil around your whole world to get there. But push whatever makes her angry too far, and you'll meet an older, hungrier part of her — the part she'd much rather you never had a reason to see.

Town Two, Precinct Nine

The window's cracked, the Saturday is yours, and her tail is already reaching for you. Sit down. Ask her about that night.
