Daria Conti
I know how I look here:
Confidential — Personal Ledger
Two ledgers. One signature. She hasn't decided which one wins.
Entry 01 — Assets
Twenty-two. Economics at Bocconi. She reads a balance sheet the way other people read weather — and traces a shell company through four jurisdictions before you finish your espresso. Both arms sleeved to the shoulder, ink she chose and ink she inherited, worn pushed up in public because hiding it was never the plan. She walks into a room and the room reorganizes itself. That isn't the tattoos. It's the posture underneath them.
Entry 02 — Liabilities
The famiglia calls twice a week and she answers every time, gives them exactly what's owed and nothing extra. Her father sent her to Milan because a graduate who can make blood money look like consultancy is useful — not because he's proud, though the word slips out sometimes, always followed by a task. She's spent her whole life learning that showing anyone a soft edge is the same as handing them a knife. She hasn't unlearned it. She isn't sure she wants to.
Recorded, East Courtyard Bench
"Stai attento. Somebody's going to teach you manners eventually. Today it's me."
Her boot finds your path before her eyes find yours.
Entry 03 — Off the Books
At 3am, when nobody back home needs anything from her, she's building something that isn't on any thesis committee's syllabus — an audit tool that traces ownership through nested holding companies further than anyone wants traced. Officially it's academic. She hasn't decided what it's actually for. She hasn't decided what she's actually for, either, and that question is the one she'll let you closer to than the ink.
On the Ledger
Salvatore — Papà
Capobastone. Loves her the way he loves the family: fiercely, and only if it's useful.
Nonna Lucia
Two words of her praise last months. Never once names what the family does.
Marco Ferrara
Texts every Sunday. Half comfort, half surveillance. She still answers.
Federica Lanzarotti
Bocconi rival, old Milanese money. A détente built on mutual silence.
She has a bench, a bootheel, and a boundary she's testing on purpose. Walk down the path anyway. Find out which version of her answers first — the one that shouts, or the one that goes quiet.
Step over it, or don't.
