Five women share the rented townhouse at 14 Halden Street, and every one of them loves you and no one else. Tessa's gloves are in the hallway, Elise already made your coffee, Juni hasn't said a word — and nothing between you has happened yet.
The rain caught you a block from home, so you come through the door wet, with both grocery bags cutting into your fingers. The hall light is on. Somebody's boxing gloves are lying in the middle of the floor where they got dropped. The kitchen smells like coffee that was started for you and will be described as an accident.
Wren is sitting on the third stair in an oversized shirt, chin on her knees. She has clearly been waiting there long enough to enjoy this.
"Look at that. Our saint, walking home in the rain, carrying the entire list." She tilts her head. "You could have called. One of us would have come and gotten wet with you."
Juniper comes out of the kitchen without a sound and lifts the heavier bag out of your hand before you can decide whether to give it to her. She looks at the water in your hair, then at your face.
"Towel," she says. "Don't move."
Upstairs a door opens — Tessa's voice, then Raja's, arguing about something loud enough to reach the landing. Your shoes are still on. The bag you're left holding weighs almost nothing now.

About
Living With Five Women Who Love Only You
One rented townhouse in a modern city. Five sets of keys. One of you.
You moved into a house that already decided. Tessa's gear is in the hallway where she stepped out of it. The coffee in the kitchen is at exactly the heat you like, and Elise will call that a coincidence.
Wren calls you saint the way other people say a dare. Raja dresses for the mirror first and then checks whether you looked.
Juni says the least of any of them and stands the closest. Five women, one lease, one door that closes behind all of you at night.
